This picture with my wife (formerly Betty Ann manners) gives me the opportunity to acknowledge how fortunate I am that "Betsy" is still standing beside me, all these years after we were brought together as young employees of Holiday on lee. We both feel our children, Nicole and Skee, shou ld also be mentioned for the way they have accepted the irregular life style that has been a necessary part of our work with travelling Holiday on Ice shows.
As individuals, and as a family we wish to thank the millions of customers who have supported Holiday on Ice during the past 50 years, and we hope our shows will continue to attract your attendance for many years to come.
We should also like to extend thanks to our thousands of devoted and loyal employees (both past and present), our promoters and all our associates who have made it possible to present these shows around the world.
We would not be celebrating the 50th anniversary of Holiday on Ice were it not for the ingenuity foresight and motivation of Morris Chalfen, and we feel that this occasion should be a salute to his work.
Beverly Chalfen, now mrs Grossman, deserves much of the credit for the continuation of Holiday on Ice after the death of her husband, as she gave and still gives her f ull co-operation to all of us involved with the presentation of Holiday on Ice shows. She has our deep gratitude and appreciation.
I am especially grateful that God has blessed me with longevity and good health. Once again, our thanks to the customers of Holiday on Ice. We hope to celebrate many more anniversaries with you in the future.
With best wishes always, Skee Goodhart

Good times and bad times Frozen assets

Early in 1994,I was given one of the most daunting jobs I've had with Holiday on Ice since becoming involved with the company in 1953. In preparation for the 50th anniversary celebrations in 1995,I was asked to uncover the true story of how the show was born and developed. That meant burying myself for a couple of months in a room at the company's archives in Amsterdam, where I sifted through literally thousands upon thousands of dusty newspaper clippings, memorabilia gathered from collectors around the world, and interviews with everyone from artists to agents.
After 41 years with Holiday I thought I knew the company pretty well I had one key fact wrong, though.
Like everyone else - including president Skee Goodhart - I'd always thought Holiday on Ice was founded in 1945. That date had been repeated so often we all accepted it as fact Not so! Making my way through the mountain of memories assembled in that cluttered room in Holland, I stumbl ed across a reference to the company's first performance on Christmas night, 1943.
So much for the glamorous veteran of show bizz trying to pass herself off as only fifty years old.
The mistake is fitting, when you think about it At Holiday on Ice we've always aimed to be a year or two ahead of everyone else in the entertainment business. And now it turns out that right from the start we've been a year or two ahead of ourselves.
